The First Sign Of Snow

The rain has disappeared for a while but now we have the first appearance of snow in Vancouver. On Sunday we got a slight covering in the afternoon, which more or less melted as soon as it landed but judging by the weather report more or is on it's way. Other areas outside of the city have had significant amounts of snow and soon we are likely to get higher levels in the metro Vancouver area. The local news this evening was full of stories related to the weather but we'll just have to see what tomorrow brings.
Thankfully Lou and I both have really good winter coats now, so much so that mine almost makes me sweat whilst riding the SkyTrain to work! From what we've heard the majority of the main roads should stay clear because of the high traffic volume so hopefully Lou shouldn't have too much hassle getting to and from work. If the roads do look too bad though Lou is already planning to take public transit to work but she'll only be able to judge it morning by morning.

The last week has flown by with Christmas starting to make things busier in general all around us. We now have our Christmas tree set up (which Lou picked up on her own after our previous unsuccessful trip to Walmart!) and hopefully this week we should be getting our new Sofa and Ottoman that we ordered from IKEA. Thursday night was the only evening we went out socially, we went to a sports bar off Granville Street with friends to watch the Canucks which was fun (and they won!).
All of the local malls have become super busy recently and Metropolis at Metrotown is even more crazy than usual. Lou had to work this weekend so instead of doing any exploring I just caught up with some things I didn't manage to get done in the week. On Saturday morning I made a token effort to do some exercise but even though there was no "burpy man" in the Gym it was still packed out. I opted to jog around the park instead but I only managed two laps before the below freezing temperature and lack of fitness made me give up early! On Sunday it was really cold so apart from nipping out to get my new coat I just stayed in and watched football highlights. We've started to receive Christmas cards from the UK over the last few days seeing the UK stamp gives us a special feeling which may sound weird but it's cool knowing it's travelled all the way over here. Thank you so much to everyone who has sent us one.
So far we've got no plans on what we're going to do this week but I guess whatever we do it's going to be determined by the weather. The photos below are ones I took in our neighbourhood on Sunday afternoon, as you can see it's not bad at all....yet!
